Viva Mexico

 

If you are visiting for the first time and you’re intrigued by the idea of Improv Travel, then you’re going to love what we’ve got for you.  It’s fall once again and I am off on another travel adventure…this time through Mexico and Central America.  I travel like this for various reasons and this trip is no different.  Experiencing 50 countries by age 25 will be amazing, but sharing this way of life to an international travel novice like Andrew will make it that much better.  AJ Freewheelin (his new travel persona) decided to take a leave of absence from his career to discover what long term world travel is all about.  What better place than Latin America: so close to home, yet worlds away!

The plan is very specific…wait we don’t have one.  Ok so it’s not set in stone but we did buy a one-way ticket with the idea of going to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua and any other countries that strike our fancy.  It’s for an undetermined amount of time but hopefully we’ll be back by Thanksgiving…or Christmas…OK definitely New Years!  Although this is extremely open ended and flexible, we almost missed the only thing we had planned: our flight on Sept. 28th to Cancun.  Why? Well the generally reliable MARTA train in Atlanta broke down on the way to the airport.  Luckily we caught a “rescue train” that got us there with 5 minutes to spare until our plane boarded.  Phew, we were now that much closer to a fun filled adventure south of the border.

A while back I came across Xola Adventure Travel Consultants.  Just recently they have teamed up with Green Living Project as a force for good.  As I start this adventure travel company in Central America I am keeping my eye out for ways to help philanthropically and leave the places better than when I found it!

They are seeking “to build awareness for the adventure tourism industry as a source of important human, economic and environmental development.”

This is a very cool chart to show that Adventure Travel can be very beneficial to the people inhabiting these beautiful places.

Wordplay or Worldplay: Jamaican Me Hungry

 Oman, let me just say it’s been a wild Christmas.  Is-land-ed at the airport and eventually arrived at RJ and Tina’s  beautiful home. As I smelled the aroma coming from the kitchen, I exclaimed “wow, Jamaican me Hungary“.  With all the food, it’s Benalux-ury for years (Uncle Franks Bhutan popped on his shirt last year after eating too much) and this year we weren’t sure we were Ghana make it to the festivities.  But as always Papau New Guinea wouldn’t let us miss it, she always gets Uruguay.  

Chad An-Dorra have Benin the kitchen all day Rome-ing around preparing the secret Chile.  “It’s a Swed-en spicy mixture of Guat-emales and Ma-cau’s milk” I was told.  It was great seeing everyone in for the Reunion but we couldn’t find the good China anywhere.  “Juneau where they are?” my dad asked.  “No, Iraq-ed my brain, Kenya help?” she said.   “Well, I don’t know Alaska the host but they should be India cupboard next to Ja-pans” said Dad. Cay-man, Nor-way is it Ghana be that easy we’ve been Russian around all morning but I’ll Czech.  Iran over there and after Peru-sing for a few seconds sure enough there they were hidden right behind the Bol-ivias and Canada Dry.

As we prepared the table, everyone continued to drink and Gab-on.   That is until Uncle Jordan exclaimed “Everyone get Djibouti in the chair!  The Maine course is ready.”  It was then that Mark unveiled the Turkey with the Mozambique still attached and way too much Greece!  My sister Mali, a health nut, shouted out “Are you Syria’s? Egypt us!  I Haiti eating food that makes me fat!  Someone passed her a napkin, but she said jokingly “No! Go to the Den-Mark and get a towel…this one’s gunna need it.”  We couldn’t Belize what happened next, he looked like a Guyana mission and he did it…with a beach towel no less.  What a Nepal-ing sight that was.  He even asked if he could Aruba the belly for good luck.  Sudan-ly, Mal-dives right in and accidentally knocks the bird and the rest of the food on the Flor-ida.  We quickly realized that she was a Mon-golia few people that had ever made this kind of lasting impression. I laughed since it looked like it had Mold-ova it’s head where the green carpet fuzz had become attached. 

All in all it was a pretty funny family get together.  I just wish I could have gotten Somoa footage of this spectacle so I could Rwanda it and watch it all over!  She had this perplexed look as if she thought she would catch a Germ-any second as a result of having to clean our dinner off the ground. 

All was not lost though, we still got dessert: Kiwi Vanilla Malta’s for the adults and Sierra & Leone made Shirley Temple’s for the kids with more sugary Grenadine than is fair or reasonable.  Not only were they playing Qater Hero like musicians in a Congo line for hours but there was a flag Pol-and they climbed it.  Before opening presents we were told to Sing-an-pore the traditional eggnog.  Remember to use a Costa Rica!  As we finished off with gifts, how could I be Mad-agascar-d is so…practical and Sey-chelles of macaroni make amazing artwork.  Which got me thinking, as I headed off Togo to bed “Israel to have families this eclectic?”  If not, I need a stiff drink and hold the ice Cuba’s.
